چکیده
BACKGROUND Lipid alterations have been described in sickle cell anemia (SCA), but their association with the disease severity is not fully understood and correlation nutritional status of this population has widely studied. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to assess lipid profile its relation status, including anthropometric characteristics daily macronutrient intake, biomarkers adults SCA a steady state. DESIGN Cross-sectional METHODS was an analytical cross-sectional 55 60 members control group. Sociodemographic, anthropometric, nutritional, laboratory data were collected between March 2019 June 2020. Mann–Whitney test used compare groups Spearman's coefficient variables. RESULTS The group presented higher calorie, protein, carbohydrate lower levels high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c), triglyceride (TG)/HDL-c ratio than control. HDL-c showed positive hemoglobin hematocrit (HcT) negative indirect bilirubin lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). TG/HDL-c positively linked reticulocyte count, LDH, leukocyte count negatively Hb. CONCLUSIONS findings hypocholesterolemia independent intake. links hemolysis indices indicate that they are easily accessible, low-cost markers capable predicting severity.

Side Effects of Hydroxyurea in Patients with Sickle Cell Anemia
Background: Hemoglobin S arises is the result of a point mutation (A-T) in the sixth codon on the -globin gene on chromosome 11 causing sickle cell anemia. The presence of fetal hemoglobin in infancy plays a relatively protective role for vaso-occlusive symptoms that are the major contributor for the morbidity and mortality among patients with sickle cell anemia. hydroxyurea, an s-phase-specif...
متن کاملNutritional status, hospitalization and mortality among patients with sickle cell anemia in Tanzania.
BACKGROUND Reduced growth is common in children with sickle cell anemia, but few data exist on associations with long-term clinical course. Our objective was to determine the prevalence of malnutrition at enrollment into a hospital-based cohort and whether poor nutritional status predicted morbidity and mortality within an urban cohort of Tanzanian sickle cell anemia patients. DESIGN AND METH...

177 xxx They analyzed 651 patients with APL of whom 72 expressed CD56 (11%). CD56 + APL was significantly associated with high white blood cell counts, low albumin levels, the BCR3 isoform and coexpression of the CD2, CD34, CD7, HLA-DR, CD15 and CD117 antigens. For CD56 + APL, the 5-year relapse rate was 22% compared with a 10% relapse rate for CD56-APL (p-value = 0.006). CD56 + APL also showed...
متن کاملNitric oxide status in sickle cell anemia
In this issue of the Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia, Elias et al.(1) show the negative correlation between nitrite serum levels and the concentration of fetal hemoglobin (Hb F) in adult patients with sickle cell anemia. Hb F is a predictor of good prognosis in sickle cell anemia suggesting that the nitrite concentration might be used as a biomarker of the disease prognosis(1). ...
